Hello, Our little guy turned 2 on November 1st. His Birthday Party was on the 2nd...and my oh my was it a Birthday Bash!!! He knows how to partay.....lol. Over the past few months he has been into "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" and before that he was super into Elmo (I would say he like Elmo for a good Year before this) I tossed around the idea of doing an Elmo themed Birthday for him. But then he started getting into Jake. So I was like yeah Pirates....and seriously this was the perfect time to have a "Pirate Birthday Party" because it is around the time of halloween so I found skulls every where...I shopped a lot at the Dollar Store and Walmart. So I would say it cost be about $30 to do all the decor for it. When I finished decorating I was so in love with how it all fit together...one of the coolest Birthday's I have seen yet! He loved it! He had a blast and had fun with his little cousins and friends! Life is good! Here is his Birthday Party in pictures :) Enjoy! Fish 'n' Chips...hehe Our baby is 2....not really a baby anymore is he? I cannot believe it has been two Years with this little dude. Everyday has been so incredibly amazing having him around...but now the terrible two's join us.
Thanks for stopping by...we are so blessed to have this little 2 Year Old in our life <3 Happy Birthday my Sweet Isaiah!!! WE Love you sooo much! ...following my dreams... -Cynthia

Hello,
Isaiah turned 2 on November 1st. I cannot believe how fast these past 2 Years have gone by, and I still to this day look at the little person we created and can't imagine life without him! He is so much fun (he has his days...when he is not so fun...terrible two's alright) but he is such a good little guy. His personality is so awesome and it's crazy to see his love for music :) At 2 Years he weighs just over 22 lbs. He is a small toddler. (Once I get all the proper measurements/percentiles I will post in this...I will try to take both the boys in sometime this Week so we can get them weighed/measured) He is still in diapers (Still on the medium setting for his cloth diapers, and size 4 in pampers) He wears 2T (but they are still pretty big) Instead of writing down his milestones/development...I will just write about some of the things he loves to do :) Some things Isaiah loves...
I think that is pretty much it...I am sure I missed a lot of stuff. But our 2 Year Old is a pretty awesome little dude with a love for many things! I am not in any way concerned of his development, I think he is pretty much right on track for that. He is starting to say a lot of words now and sometimes even a few words at one (like a sentence...or a toddler sentence I should say) He loves singing, dancing, jumping, climbing, he loves to read books (especially with his Daddy when he get's tucked into bed at night), He loves his ABC's, his little brother...his Mommy, his Daddy, he is starting to say "I Love You" and "Thank You" He is a smart little guy and remembers so many things...sometimes we are shocked at what he does remember. Isaiah is still in diapers...this is something we want to change in the next few months. We will start slowly at potty training...but don't feel rushed to do so...it will come in time :) His appetite is a lot better now, he loves to eat...some of his favorite things to eat are: Eggs (any style), grapes, Cheese, Meat and he lives for snacks! He still has 2 bottles a day (of whole milk) one before his nap, one before bed. We are hoping to work on getting him off bottles completely...but with a 4 month old, not getting as much sleep as we are used to...we just don't want to mess with Isaiah right now...lol His Routine: This is our Mon-Fri schedule...Weekends are usually errands and Family time. 7:00-7:30am- wake up time. 7:30-8:30am- Watch Thomas (or whatever he feels like) and eat some breakfast. 9:00-11:00am- Go to Parent Link (Which is an indoor play-place for parents and kids) 11:00am-12:00/12:30- Play at home (sometimes run errands) eat some lunch. 12:30/1:30pm-2:30/3:30pm- nap time (Mama can get some things done...if little brother lets her) 4:00pm- Daddy is usually home. just in time to play. 6:00pm- Dinner time 7:30/8:30- Bath (every other night) and of course Bedtime. The only thing I really want to change with our schedule is adding a day in the week dedicated to crafting...it's time to start getting him into making a whole bunch of cool things :) That is pretty much it for his update. I am sure I missed a lot of stuff...but I think I covered a lot as well. Thanks for stopping by ...following my dreams... -Cynthia Hello, We just got home from the salon. Our little man Isaiah just got his first big boy haircut. I wanted her to cut it kind of fohawk style and she did an amazing job doing so :) Jayden held him while he got the cut done since he is still to small to sit still on his own! Isaiah has had 3 haircuts already in his lifetime...but I wanted him to have a more styling haircut this time around and learn some tricks from Michelle (the stylist) He did sooo great. He sat still pretty much the whole time and watched as she cut all this strands off. (hehe) He looks so grown up now! My little man...a Big Boy now ;) Here are some pictures. BEFORE: Thanks so much for stopping by, Hope you liked my post!
...following my dreams... -Cynthia Hello, Ok I know I am waaayyyy behind on doing this post. But I wanted to get it up here anyways to have Isaiah's Birthday on my blog. He is actually 14 Months and 2 Days now (so I am 2 months late) But that's ok...at least I am doing it now. I cannot even believe a whole Year has went by. Where does the time go??? Tell me I want to know!!!!! Our little man has changed our life completely, and we couldn't be more in Love and more proud of this little person. Everyday we look at him and see a little boy forming and saying goodbye to that little baby we have been teaching this past year. He is so big now, he is so smart and we are so proud to be his parents. His 1st Birthday was a magical day and it was breathtaking to see all the people who showed up to Celebrate with us. Anyways here are some pictures to share the 1st Birthday Party of our little boy. The Love of our Life. We Love you Isaiah David Madsen <3 Thanks for stopping by
...following my dreams... -Cynthia Dear Son, I'm not gonna lie I am getting kinda emotional writing this post. I cannot believe my little man is 11 Months Old (almost 11.5 Months as I am writing this post) So much has changed since the day we brought you home! Yikes! You are a short few weeks away from being 1 Year Old! 12 Months Old...this is crazy! I am so happy with how you are growing up and how you are becoming a little person, a little boy! Holy crud! I am so in Love with you, I feel so blessed to call you my Son! What are you up to these days? Well you are so close to walking...you LOVE walking. Daddy and I practice with you every night with standing and taking steps! You do NOT want to stand for the life of you! haha! You just want to walk, walk and walk! I do notice however when I am not paying attention you will be holding yourself up onto furniture and then let go and stand for a few seconds, when you feel like you are gonna fall backwards you grab the furniture again. So I am proud of you for practicing that on your own. But you will crawl up to anyone (seriously anyone around us) and climb their legs and grab their hands to walk with you. You love walking...and when people don't mind walking around with you...they become your best friend! You still love to crawl...and I can tell you want to walk so bad and it frustrates you sometimes. But when you want to get somewhere...you want to get there fast...so it's too cute watching you crawl as fast as you can crawl to get to your destinations ;) You Love eating...this is probably one of your favorite things to do. You love all foods that I give you (most anyways) and of course you still love nursing. You still nurse about 3 times a day and if you wake up at all during the night. My goal is to still try and nurse you up until a Year (maybe even a few months after) depending on when we are both ready to quit! (and I am comfortable about that...not everyone is...but I am and I think you are too, and that is all that matters) You are trying to move to 1 nap a day. So it is kind of messing you up a little. You wake up once in the night now because switching to 1 nap is a pretty big adjustment. So I hope we can figure it out soon, so you can get back into a great schedule! It is making it very easy for us to get out now though, because you are only 1 nap a day! We just recently switched you to your big boy seat! We bought a Britax Boulevard and so far we love it. The only thing I miss is when you fell asleep before in the bucket seat, we would just bring you inside wherever we were going. Now we have to take you out. Here is a pic of you enjoying a power snooze on our coffee date! You LOVE music, music is seriously your life! Anytime there is a chance for music you take it! Whether it's drumming, strumming on a guitar, using a drum stick with pots and pans and containers, tamborines, singing, dancing, clapping your hands. You LOVE it! It is so cute to see you, and seriously Son, you have amazing hand/eye coordination! So Proud of you!!! I think that is it for the update's, You love just hanging out, you are still the most chill, relaxed baby I know! It is great spending the days with you and watching you learn amazing new things. It is so fun to have you interact with me now and understand different things. You are so smart! We will be doing more outside adventures now too, like hanging out at ParentLink and stuff to. Going on more dates just the 2 of us, or with Daddy too if he's home! Not sure how much you weigh these days, but we will find out in a few weeks for your 12 Month checkup! We are moving this weekend to a bigger place, You will have tonnes of room to cruise around! I Love you my Son!
...following my dreams... -Cynthia Dear Son, I cannot even believe how old you are now...what just happened? How did this happen? Before I know it we will be celebrating your very First Birthday!!! Holy Moly!!! Time is going by so fast...and I am enjoying every minute possible. I Love you so very much, you have changed my life completely and honestly it feels like nothing else in this world matters! I Love being your Mama...and I feel so blessed to have such an amazing Son, an amazing gift from God <3 Now let's see here what is new with you? What you can do these days: We found out recently that you LOVE music. You love it so much and you love to sing...and you love to dance! It all started long ago I am sure...but the first we really noticed was when Daddy handed you some drum sticks and a drum for the first time....you hit that drum constantly and when he took the sticks away (because it was time to leave the store) you got so upset! :( poor little man! We have a drum stick for you at our house now....and I pull out the pots and pans...and tupperware to let you bang on the drums whenever you please :) You will still play with your stand up toy...that sings and talks to you...and you will dance to it when it plays the banjo! Daddy really needs to play music to you more...cause you love music! So besides music being your favorite thing to do these days...you are sure getting into a lot more stuff recently. Daddy and I have to keep a very close eye on you. The other day I was working in the kitchen and you crawled over in there with me...I looked down at you as you were putting something in your mouth...and it fished out a "coffee bean" eek...you don't need coffee in your life Mr! Don't you see what it has done to your Father and I??? haha! So yeah I have been busy trying to keep our apartment nice and orderly and vacuumed :) At least if you eat dirt and fluffy stuff it might just build up your immune system ;) You have gotten so good at crawling and it is super cute watching you as you try so hard to crawl so fast to get somewhere you want to be ;) But you also love walking on furniture and if we were to walk you around the house...you would do so all day long! It is probably your second most favorite thing to do. You voice has become very loud these days too...you LOVE singing. You love talking...and you are always moving your hands...as if you have your own language or something ;) Lol...Which I know you do. It is too cute to watch though...and you really understand different emotions now too. If we were to take something away from you...you know how to let us know that you are not happy about that! But if you are in trouble and I tell you to not do something...sometimes your feelings get hurt and you start to cry ;( You are still getting the hang of the whole hello/goodbye thing though...and clap...and peek a boo! You seem to only do these things on your own time :) haha! You absolutely without a doubt HATE getting changed! Diaper changes....or clothing changes...I swear if you could be naked all day...you would...and I would let you if our apartment didn't have this disgusting rug throughout!!!! We are still doing cloth diapering...and we love doing cloth diapering! It works for us so wonderfully...but I must admit that disposable diapers have come in real handy on our trips and what not! You are really enjoying eating solids more and more...you are definitely leaning more towards chunkier foods now...and you LOVE to feed yourself. You don't really dig puree's anymore!!! Which works for me...I can now cut up a piece of toast and some fruit in the mornings...and then actually eat my breakfast while you eat yours ;) Or enjoy my morning cup of coffee while you feed yourself...You are becoming more and more independent these days...and you are so happy doing things on your own. You still nurse about 4-5 times a day (including a night feed) and you love nursing. Still wondering how hard it is going to be when we try to wean you :) haha! I am ready when you are though ;)
You are just about 17 pounds and about 27 Inches Long! You are in the 5th Percentile for babies your age. You are a short and incredibly healthy baby. You are still without a doubt a Daddy's Boy...you LOVE your daddy...some days you won't even really notice me too much if Daddy is home...until you want Milk :) lol! I am happy with that though....your Daddy is a great man! You also have a new friend. Gabriel (Sam and Alana's little guy) They even live in our same apartment building...and we are becoming very close to them. They are so great! I have a feeling we will be doing a lot of Family outings with them...which is great, especially when we are so not home people! Yay!!! But hiking, camping, fishing, boating, trips to Jasper (and other places), shopping, going to the parks, going to parent link, going to Mama/kids bible studies will be all the things we do with the Shumka's :) this is the beginning to a very great friendship :) Gabriel calls you "Osaiah"...it is the cutest thing! So my little peanut...there are so many things you are up to these days. Daddy and I are so proud of the little man you are turning into. We couldn't ask for a better baby. You are our little angel! We are so blessed and Thankful for you! Happy 10 Months my little Man we Love you so much! -Your Mama
...following my dreams... -Cynthia Dear Son, Well you passed the 9 Month Mark! You are actually just over 9.5 Months now! It is crazy how the time is flying by. I often think that it wasn't long ago when I was holding you in my arms for the first time. I feel so blessed as the days go by to be called your Mama! Nothing else in this whole world is better!!!! You are getting so big...and it's amazing watching you grow into a little man. You definitely keep me on my toes. You are getting into everything possible. But I am enjoying every moment...as I always did. Your Daddy and I are very proud of all the new things you are starting to do. You are such a smiley Baby...and I am pretty sure 99% of the time you always have a smile on your face! You are also such a chill baby...you just love to go with the flow. During 2 Weeks of you turning 9 Months old we took our British Columbia Trip...and our destination was Victoria, BC...that's where Daddy went to University to become a Music Teacher! You did so amazing on this trip....I am so proud of you and how you handled it! On the way home...you cried and fussed a total of about 10 seconds. I Love you Isaiah <3 You are definitely turning into a Daddy's Boy these days though...(So I am really not sure what you are going to do when he goes back to work) Daddy can put you to sleep no problem (for the most part) I swear my heart melted when I walked into the living room to see you and Daddy napping on a chair together! <3 We started giving you chunks of food every now and again...you still prefer puree and us feeding it to you...but you love the change up once and a while! You are getting really good at putting chunks of food in your mouth too...which is very helpful when Mama has some stuff to do in the Kitchen! It's nice that you are so content that I am able to get stuff done when I need too! You still love your naps during the day. You are down to 2 a day now (used to be 3) since the Victoria Trip. Which works for us and seems to work for you as well! You still love Breastfeeding! You are still cloth diapered as well! I am happy we were able to cloth diaper you our whole trip. You love to DRUM...this is a new thing we figured out. Daddy gave you drum sticks for the first time (when he was trying out some drums at the music store) and you used them like a pro. When Daddy took them away from you...that was not so good :( We cannot wait to get you your very own drum set! You LOVE to sing in Church...or when Daddy is playing guitar! You absolutely love your sleep sheep and your sleep bunny. I am pretty sure you cannot sleep without either of these things. They came in handy on our trip too! What can you do at this point:
You can crawl like a pro, you can sit up like a pro, you can reach couches and pull yourself up to standing like a pro, you can move along furniture like a pro, you can walk (with us holding your hands) like a pro, you can sing like a pro, you can definitely cry like a pro...., you like dancing, clapping your hands, talking, playing with toys (and especially things that you aren't suppose to play with), you love eating...and pooping...and sleeping...boy oh boy do you love your sleep, you sleep through the night (the odd night waking up once or twice to nurse), you like to feed yourself, you love to go for walks, you still like jumping in the jumper, you like bath time (especially when Daddy has a bath with you), you love to use walking toys...and you look so proud when you are walking with them)...there is probably tonnes of other stuff I am missing. But this is the main stuff. Happy 9 Months Old my little Man. We Love you so much! -Your Mama ...following my dreams... -Cynthia Dear Son, Well you are 8 Months Old already (well just about 9...because I could never get a post up and running on time) Oh well...it is what it is! I am sure I will get better at this! I really wish I kept track of all your milestones over these past 8/9 Months! Cause man I am forgetting when you did things! Oh well. I am sure that will get better too! So a lot has happened in the first few weeks of your 8 Months! I guess it's good I am a bit late...so that things can happen during this Month! We celebrated your 8 Months on Canada Day. It was fun. I think you really enjoyed yourself...even though you had a bit of a cold and were all snotty! :( poor little guy. But you were great...you are always so good when we go out. Lucky us! Such a happy Baby...Isaiah you always have a smile on your face...you love showing those 6 teeth of yours! Your hair is getting really long, I am thinking about cutting it a lot shorter...it is really hot out and all the hair that is growing is so short compared to the hair that is on top of your head. If you lift up the top hair...it looks like you have a mohawk it's so short under there! LOL! You love standing up...and you love walking (with someone holding you) Crawling is your new thing these days too...you have been doing it for about 3 Weeks now! We had our very first Road Trip away...on a Family Vacation! We went with Uncle Tyler, Aunt Kathy and Little Aaron! We went to Calgary...to the Zoo and to Heritage Park. I think you had tonnes of fun, and you were such a trooper...especially with some of the days being so long! You are so great Isaiah! We are really not to sure about what color your eyes are going to be. Right now they are a green/grey color and they have been like this for months now. So we are thinking they may stay this color...but you never know...I guess they can change and keep changing...sometimes they look more grey...sometimes more brown...sometimes even more blue! But this picture above shows that this is usually the color they are! You had your very first Swing ride...and you LOVED it...I was able to catch it on video and I am glad I did...because you laughed and smiled the whole time! precious moments! You are constantly go, go, go...you LOVE to crawl! We have to be very quick as to making sure you aren't getting into anything you aren't suppose to be into! So fast! You can also sit up from your tummy now too! You can also stand up from crawling...that seems to be your favorite thing to do (you just learned that within this past 2 weeks) You were lucky enough to have watermelon for the first time a week ago...and you loved it! Grandma spoiled you with watermelon when we went to visit her!!! A shot of your hair in the natural lighting! It is getting so much lighter now! It looks more like a reddish light brown now! But in the sun...you can see copper red! It's so beautiful! Grandma bought you a pool...and you loved taking a dip in it when the house was way to hot for you! We brought it home with us...so we will set it up on the balcony and when those hot days (like today) come around we can have fun playing in the water! You keep trying to climb out every now and again though...so we really need to watch you! haha! Grandma took you in the lake for the first time. Again you loved it...always a smile on your face! Your Grandma loves you so very much...I was happy to catch this moment between the two of you! So yeah Isaiah...you are getting into so much stuff now...you are such a busy little baby...
You are still eating solids, and still nursing (still loving it), you constantly crawl...you don't really lay there anymore, you love standing up from crawling...but you still haven't figured out how to sit back down from standing (you get mad and frustrated that you don't know how) I am trying to teach you how to fall on your bum, you love playing with anything that isn't a toy (so all of my stuff), you love going for walks (you just chill in your stroller and enjoy the fresh air) you don't mind being in the snuggly, you love talking...you say Mama, Baba, and you just learned how to say Dada like yesterday!, You are getting a little better with other people...still a bit strange when they first hold you, we are still using cloth diapers...and loving them, You miss you Daddy so much (while he is away at Rock Camp...he comes home tomorrow), You still sleep through the night (you may wake up once or twice to have a little snuggle), You are done teething...for right now, I am not sure what your weight is...but I am gonna guess 17 or 18 pounds, I think that is about it. Until the next update! I love you my son, -Your Mama ...following my dreams... -Cynthia My Sweet Isaiah, I am behind on writing this post. You are actually 8 months now. But I took some notes for when you were 7 months. So I will do my best to make sure to include what you were up to a month ago! You are sure one smart cookie. It seems to take you a little bit longer to figure out stuff...like sitting up and what not. But when you do it the first few times you seem to get the hang of it (and other things) really quickly. Only a few days go by until you master a milestone you just learn! At 7 Months....you could sit up on your own. I would still always put pillows behind you so you didn't topple over. At 7 Months you still really enjoy playing with your toys and are pretty content for me to just sit you up and leave you for a few minutes while I go and do some chores! You are such a great baby Isaiah! I couldn't ask for a more chill child than you! We are sure blessed! You still really love your sleep...still sleeping anywhere from 9-11 hours a night! You sure love your milk still...I think nursing is your most favorite thing other than sleeping...but when you are awake and playing...as long as you are fed and changed you are probably the happiest baby I know! hehe ;) You love it when we stand you up and you grab our fingers and we walk you. When someone talks to you...you cannot help but to smile at them! You are talking so much more these days and saying words like "Ba Baba" and "Mama Ma" You still have a tired talk right before you fall asleep. It is especially cute when you do this in the car. I will have to get this on video soon...cause you have been doing this for months and I don't want to miss this moment on video. You are still a very good sleeper...we can place you in your crib and you will go right to sleep for the most part...you have your days where you just don't want to...but I am sure a lot of babes are like that too. You have a total of 6 teeth now. 2 on the bottom and 4 on the top. No sign of anymore coming for awhile though. So that's good. We got you your own teething necklace...to help with the pain a bit. We still take it off at night...but I think it does help ease the pain a bit! Anyways my son, you are growing amazingly. You are getting so big now. I couldn't tell you how much you weigh...I am gonna guess around 15 or 16 pounds at 7 months. Which I am pretty happy with. You are doing so much more these days too. We are so proud of you. You are doing great with sitting up, rolling over, reaching for things, making your way across the living room, standing up onto things on your own, eating solids, nursing, talking, remembering things, trying to wave hello or goodbye...yeah pretty much a million other things too...but that abou sums up your 7 month update! Love,
Your Mama! ...following my dreams... -Cynthia Hello,
So this post is basically just my thoughts and feelings about my breastfeeding experience! This picture is the closest I will take to the actual process ;) haha! But yes he is nursing in this picture. I LOVE it when he looks at me like this. It's the most precious time too, because I get to see his eye color and the way it is changing. This is the time that we can 100% focus on one another and just stare at each other! This is the most incredible bond a Mother can have with their son (or daughter)! I'll just start from the beginning! When Isaiah was a few minutes old he seemed to latch on ok. But as I had to give him more feedings throughout that morning...I definitely needed to get the hang of it. I especially had problems with one side over the other. (Won't go into too much detail...) But yeah it took us a few days to really get it. I am not gonna lie it was sort of painful for the first few days. The day we brought Isaiah home (Day after he was born) that night he wanted to cluster feed and do nothing other than nurse! As a new Mom this is something that you are so confused about and are kind of like what the heck is going on! haha! I ended up calling Health Link...because every time I would take him off my breast he would just freak out! We tried a few soothers but really didn't calm him down until the morning hours, when my milk came in...Did he ever LOVE that! haha I was so happy when that first night home was over though...because I dont' think we had a night quite like that one again! Just with my experience I would say that the first 1.5-2 weeks of breastfeeding is the time when you need to learn with your baby. Giving Isaiah a pacifier though sure saved me a few times. After the first few week period is over though I got so much more comfortable with nursing him. I even got the point where I was comfortable nursing him in public (under a cover of course) but honestly feeding your baby is the most natural thing...is it not? From time to time I do get the odd looks from people (Not gonna lie it's mostly middle aged women and men) which is so random and weird! LOL! But whatever...just turned my attention to my son (while taking a little peek at him under the cover) I think it would be so funny to knit a "boob hat" LOL that will get them talking hey? LOL! Just kidding! When Isaiah was about 2.5 months old he started sleeping so good at night (some nights he was sleeping through the night completely. I just left him sleep until he woke up for some food! This then tampered with my milk supply...cause during the day he was nursing every 2-2.5 hours and then went to about 9 ish hours at night! Yikes! Anyways it got to the point that I needed to start setting my alarm to get up and wake him up to feed him! Otherwise it was very uncomfortable in the mornings...and like I said I was getting a little low with my milk supply! I asked the doctor about it a few weeks later and she said I was probably just over-thinking it...because he was gaining weight just fine! Now that we started solids I thought for sure Isaiah would then get really bored of nursing. He isn't at all. This baby Loves to nurse! He likes solids too...but he LOVES to nurse! When I carry him and he wants to nurse he makes it very clear, he will nuzzle his little face in my chest. So my breastfeeding journey isn't over yet...I really want to make it to the 12 month mark at least! It seems to be going so great for the 2 of us that I don't want to mess with anything to make any changes. I will most likely be one of those Mama's who goes over a year...but I don't really want to! haha! We are both just so comfortable with it that I feel like I can do this forever! LOL! Anyways thought I would write a breastfeeding experience story for those who are interested in learning about these kinds of things. I am so happy with my experience...there are definitely things I will do different with the next baby...but Isaiah and my experience is perfect for us! My only advice is that I hope you will give breastfeeding a try (all those expecting Mama's out there) because it is the most rewarding and perfect thing for you Baby...There is no closeness like it! Of course I respect and will not judge the people who don't breastfeed...but my opinion is there is truly nothing better! Thanks for reading ;) ...following my dreams... -Cynthia |
