Hello, Our little guy is 8 Months Old (or at least was on the 9th) of course I am a little late...but hopefully I can learn to get all of this under control and have things on time and organized as I want it to be. Life is so incredibly busy...and I am trying to have a more simple life. But it will happen! Jens is growing like a weed. I cannot believe how fast time is going, life still seems crazy when I think that we have two beautiful boys. They are both growing so darn fast...so it's been teaching me lately to just enjoy it all...even when things are tough...this is not gonna last long...I know I shouldn't think this way but they will seriously be grown and moved on out in no time :( Gah. So I am definitely enjoying it all and living in the moment. Well here is the update. Enjoy! Weight/Height: Sorry didn't track again :( I will make sure to for next month though! Sizes: He still fits in size 6-12 months clothes (9 Months would be his perfect fit) but they pretty much only ever have 6-12 months. He can fit in some of the smaller 12 month clothes. We will probably be switching his clothes over to 12 months though because some of his sleepers are getting a little snug (length anyways) he is a small baby...so most of his 12 months clothes are super big still (but the smaller ones fit ok). In Pampers he is still in a size 3. In cloth he is still on the largest size for his kawaii diapers and the medium size for his flip diapers. Routine: We have finally figured out a routine that works for him. So exciting! Here it is.... 7:00am- Wake up and I nurse him, then I start breakfast and he has breakfast (usually oatmeal or fruit puree) 8:00am- He goes down for his 1st nap. 10:00am- Wake up and nurse. I will then give him a little snack of some kind. Fruit, mum mums, puffs, cheerios. 12:00pm- His second nap (also Isaiah's nap too...so this is my down time without the boys) 2:00pm- He wakes up (so does Isaiah) I nurse him and then give him a little snack (sometimes I skip this solid feed) 4:00pm- His last nap. He fights me on this nap sometimes...but he still needs this nap to function! 5:30/6:00pm- He wakes up. I nurse him and then feed him dinner. Which is some kind of puree. 7:30- Get ready for bedtime. If it is bath night we do bath...if not we just play for a bit before bed...read a book. He sleeps from 7:30/8pm until 7am (the odd night he may wake up for one feeding...but he usually doesn't) We also gave up his dream feed and it was easier than I thought it would be harder than it was. Sleeping: He loves his sleep. Our routine goes something like this. For naps through out the day I take him to his room, put him in his sleep sack turn his monitor on, turn his sleep sheep on (to the rain sound setting and it runs for 45 minutes) I give him his soother and put his blanket (that I made him) over top of him and his fuzzy bear has to be right beside his face. He loves soft things...he loves his blanket and loves to put it up to his eyes and rub it on his face. Nighttime is not really any different the only thing different is I nurse him before putting him in his crib. But he is seriously they best sleeper...now that we have figured out what he wants/needs it is so awesome. He is such a chill baby! Eating: He is still breastfed. He loves food. I won't be surprised if we start doing solids after every feeding soon...He LOVES nursing and is so awesome at it. Glad I haven't had issues with it. But he also loves food too (probably just as much) I've started getting more creative with making baby food for him, and we have been trying to use up some of the "junk food" we've bought him for easy snacks...like puffs, mum mums, arrowroot cookies etc. My goal is to get rid of them completely and start making all of my own snacks for him. He loves food so much that that is enough of a motivation to cook everything for him :) I am hoping to start doing a regular baby food recipe post once a week (I will eventually get into the swing of things) But he loves food so much that I am loving experimenting with different recipes...so to make a post about them will be fun! Milestones:
8 Months Postpartum: Well I am doing really great. Definitely feeling really comfortable with everything. Still figuring out a good routine for myself. With health and fitness and with just life and getting more simple. I have started adding devotionals into my life...and I must say that it has changed my life...I am spending way less time on the computer (yes I am on here now...but I mean way less time on facebook I guess...the things that take up my time) Spending more time with my boys and trying to get rid of the unhealthy things in life. I am feeling really great though and feeling like things are falling into place! I feel like I have way more energy to and motivation to do better in my house. Running my house :) Yup life is pretty great right now! Thanks for stopping by. ...following my dreams...

Hello, Well our little man turned 7 Months on the 9th (I am a little late on this post) but I finally got my blog all organized and figured out...I still have a lot to learn because the layout isn't exactly what I want it to be. So that can be done another time...for now this will work just perfectly for me to start up blogging on a regular basis! Jens is getting so big...I can't believe how fast time is going! It really is a bit scary when you think about how much they change in such a short period of time. Well on to the update we go. Enjoy! Weight/Height: I am not sure. Didn't track it! Sizes: He is still in a lot of 6-12 month clothing, but he can fit into some of the smaller 12-18 month clothes...most are still huge. He is still in Size 3 Pampers and probably will be for a lot longer, and he is on the largest setting for his newborn Kawaii Diapers and on the medium setting for our Flip Diapers. Routine: His routine is pretty good (We are still figuring out a perfect time for putting him down at night) 7:00/7:30am: Wake up for the day. I nurse him and then change him and then we just come hang out downstairs, this is when I would put him in his exersaucer or high chair so I can get my coffee. 8:00/8:30am: This is when he goes down for his first nap of the day. This is when I grab myself breakfast and get Isaiah some breakfast too. 9:30/10:00am: He wakes up and we head out the door to Parent Link for the day (not everyday...and I am actually gonna start going less now...cause everyday is just not working for me. Lol) I try to nurse him shortly after he wakes up and then this is also when he has his first solid feeding of the day. Sometimes oatmeal baby cereal (but I will be starting to make my own after I am through with this last box I bought) Or fruit of some kind. 11:30am/12:00pm: He may go down for a second nap of the day (this one is usually just a very short one, because we are coming home from Parent Link (another reason I want to stay home more...so he can be more rested in the day) 12:00pm: is usually his awake time I nurse him...we play and practice sitting/tummy time. This is where I might give him a little snack...some puffs, or mum mums or even some banana mashed into one of those mesh thingy's. 1:00/1:30pm: is his second (or third) nap of the day...yeah this is already sounding confusing...I will work on a better schedule for next month...even if that means me staying home more days of the week. 2:30/3:00pm: He wakes up I nurse him, and we hang out while Isaiah is still napping. He will have a little snack of some kind. 4:30/5:00pm: He is going down for his final nap. 5:30/6:00pm: He wakes up, I nurse him and then we sit at the kitchen table to have dinner. This is where he has his second solid meal of the day...and it's some kind of puree I made for him...veggies/fruit and meat. 7:30/8:00pm: Bedtime. If it is bath night (every second night) we will do that before 8 and then he is in bed for 8. I still nurse him to sleep (I didn't want to do this...but it works) 10:00pm: I dream feed him. I know I should be cutting this out soon, but it seems to work for us...I think once I get a more set in stone routine in the daytime he won't need to dream feed anymore..so I have some work to do this month with getting him on a better napping schedule. 2:00am: He most always wakes up for at least one feed this past month....sometimes he even wakes up twice. Sleeping: He loves his sleep...I am so happy that he figured out that nighttime is sleeping continually until we wake up in the morning. He still wakes up once or twice in the night for a feeding...but I think that has a lot to do with his poor napping routine during the day. I want to work on this so that he is napping 2 hour stretches instead of only an hour or less...But I can't complain about him only waking up once or twice...so lucky! Eating: He is Breastfed (that is going great) and he still loves to nurse...I am pretty sure that is all he thinks about. He is also on solids...He has about 2 servings of something a day. I make him baby food (but have used jars of baby food for some convenience at times) This is the brand I LOVE...in case you wanted to have some jars on hand for just in case as well Earths Best Organic Baby Food. Milestones: He is definitely changing at a rapid pace...
7 Months Postpartum: I am doing great. I would say my body is definitely back to normal...well it has been for a couple months now. My periods are still very random...sometimes I will go 2 months without having one. I will say though that my cramps (that come along with periods) are a lot less painful now. THM is going good, I have been trying to get back on plan for a while now...but I think I am finally back on or at least as close to plan as I can be at this point in my life. I am feeling so much more healthy now and enjoying life. I am starting to get some nesting done in my house (no not pregnant nesting) just that we will most likely be renting our condo for a couple more Years...so I want to start decorating and getting our bedrooms all under control and organized. I have some amazing things happening with my life and I actually feel so great right now...so happy...and just that my life is absolutely perfect right now. I LOVE my boys...and everything is just beautiful! Thanks for stopping by :) ...following my dreams...
-Cynthia Hello, Seriously where is the time going? Our little Jens is 6 Months Old. We had an awesome Christmas Break, Jens had his first Christmas this Year and First New Years Day! So special to have him experience all the Family and wonderful vibes all around us. His big brother did catch a nasty fever bug that was going around...that was around New Years, so that was pretty lame. We were up to visit my Parents during that time, so it was pretty sad for Isaiah to not want to really do anything, or to be himself. But the break was awesome. Jayden was home and we were able to have some serious Family time (which was much needed. Since he is so busy all the time with school and such) we even snuck in a movie night with My Brother-in-Law and his wife, with no kids. Sweet! But now Jayden is back at work and life seems to be getting normal again and a routine starting. That's about all that is new with our Family...here's the update for Jens. Enjoy! Weight/Height: 14lbs 16 oz Sizes: Most of his clothes are still 6-12 Months. But a 9-12 Month size would be even better. But to be honest I am gonna get all of his clothes organized again and probably pull out a lot of 12-18 Months stuff (even if they will be pretty big) he is just at a very awkward size right now. He is still in size 3 Diapers and probably will be for awhile. He is still on a small setting for his cloth diapers (but biggest setting for his kawaii newborn diapers) Routine: His routine really hasn't change much or even at all since his 5 Month update. He seems to be in a really great routine. The only thing that has changed is maybe more meals. 7:30am: Wake up time. I nurse him, change him and get him set up for some highchair playtime and then we have breakfast. Jens rice cereal (we just started adding banana to it, I think we will move on to some other fruits shortly) Isaiah and I eat breakfast at this time too. 9:00am: We head out the door to go to Parent Link and He falls asleep on the way there. 11:00am: He wakes up from his nap. I change him, and nurse him. Then we have playtime, they got this really sweet toy house for Christmas from my Mom and Dad and they love it so much. It's cute seeing them play together. 12:00/1:00pm: but this is his 2nd nap of the day. This is my break during the day to get some chores done, get some lunch, get some computer time in or even grab a shower if I missed one in the morning. 3:00pm: Wake up. I change him and nurse him. This is his second feeding of the day (and even then I am not super consistent with this one...somedays I miss this) I usually give him some kind of vegetable at this time (but am gonna add chicken very soon) 5:00pm: This is his 3rd nap of the day. He usually doesn't sleep as long for this one. Maybe an hour. 6:00pm: He wakes up. I change him and nurse him. Then we give him rice cereal shortly after .This is usually when we eat dinner as well. 8:00pm: Most days are really hard to keep him up until 8. We just need to play around a little bit with his last nap so we can eventually get him down for 7:30. 10:00pm-11:30pm: I dreamfeed him. Sleeping: Still loves his sleep. He doesn't wake up really at all anymore in the night, especially if I dreamfeed him. At night he likes to use a sleep sack and just have his blankie and soother. During naps I swaddle him (leaving his left hand out for sucking his thumb) and give him his blankie and soother. He goes down so great. Has for months now. Definitely loves his sleep. Eating: He is still breastfed (that is going great) and he has rice cereal at least twice a day (morning and night) and sometimes a serving of veggies around lunch time. We've tried so far: Yams (Loves), Carrots (Liked), Green Beans (Hated), Avocado (Hated), Banana's (Liked) and Butternut Squash (Not really) and yeah that's about it. We want to try Chicken and beef really soon so that I can start making him some stew's. Milestones: He is learning so much. So proud of this little man.
6 Months Postpartum: Everything is going great with me. Still struggling to get started with THM (especially after the holiday's, which totally beat me up) but I am only up 2lbs from before Christmas, so that's good. But time to kick these bad habits and get back on track. That is really all that is new with me. I feel great (will feel even better when my weight goes down a bit). I have some big dreams and things I want to achieve this Year. Thanks for stopping by. ...following my dreams...
-Cynthia Hello there,
(I did write this November 8th...and then lost track of time and didn't finish...so this is what I did write for his 4 Month Update...and I forgot a picture :( boo....slacking (But busy) mama) Well crazy to think that 4 Months has raced by. We are so in love with this little person and feel so blessed to have him in our life. Just today we were saying how Just over 2 Years ago we didn't have any children...and now we have 2 beautiful little men <3 Life is seriously so sweet! Well they weren't lying when they said 3 Months was the hardest...I don't remember it being hard with Isaiah (I am sure I felt like it was...but now I can't imagine how easy life was with just one child) lol. It has been an adjustment period that's for sure...but I can honestly say from deep down that things are finally feeling normal. Jen's is in a nice routine, and Isaiah is used to his brother staying here for good :) It's also really cool because he is at the age now where he is learning so much and starting to communicate with us...we can start to read the signs of what he needs/wants. He is becoming more and more fun...and less fragile. Hehe. Anyways here is his update... Weight/Height: Sorry didn't track. Routine: 7:30am: This is usually wake up time...give or take a half an hour. We wake up...we come downstairs, change his diaper, get him in an outfit and then he nurses. 8:40am: Change his diaper. He get's dressed up in his snowsuit (or sweater depending on the weather outside) and I put him in his carseat and give him his soother...he falls asleep instantly. 9am-11am: His first nap taking place while we are at Parent Link so his big brother can play. 11:10am: We get home give him a diaper change and he nurses. 12:30/1:00pm: Change his diaper. He goes down for his second nap of the day. This one usually only lasts 1-1.5 hours. 2:30pm: Change his diaper. Then he nurses. I then put him down for some playtime while his Brother is still napping so I can finish up chores. He then stays up for a few hours. He may go down for a third nap anywhere between 4 and 5pm. Sleep for 45 minutes and then stay up until bedtime. Which is 7:30/8pm. 8pm: Every 2nd night is Bath night ;) 8pm is usually Bedtime. I nurse him to sleep at bedtime (this is the only time he get's nursed to sleep in the day) It takes him a little bit to fall asleep. 10/11pm: I go into his room and dreamfeed him. Don't change him just pick him up and nurse him :) 2am: Now nighttime isn't completely on schedule yet...sometimes he wakes up at 12am, sometimes 2am, sometimes 3am...etc. But usually on average he wakes up at 2am for his first night feed. I then change his diaper and feed him. Jayden usually changes his diaper...and I feed him :) Wonderful Husband :) 5am: This one is sometimes a little annoying. He wakes up for his second feed (sometimes he skips this feed...most times he doesn't) Then he doesn't wake up again until we get up in the morning 7:30 ish. So yeah this is pretty much our schedule/routine during the day/night. We have our days where he is just fussier than normal or our nights where he wakes up 4 times...that is life. But for the most part I am super happy with how things have fallen into the order that they have. I feel rested. I feel happy. I feel grateful for this little person. Thanks for stopping by...sorry for the lack of an update. ...following my dreams... -Cynthia Hello, Our little dude is 3 Months Old. He is changing so much, and getting more fun as the days go by. Now that he has figured this "life" thing out and has a bit of a schedule going on. Weight/Height: He weighs about 12 lbs. Not sure his length. Sizes: At 3 Months Jens fits into sizes 3-6 Months, still some 0-3 (especially when he is in a disposable diaper) It is so much more fun now though, because we have a lot of clothes from Isaiah's baby clothes that are in this size category and 6-9 Months will be even more fun...not that I am trying to wish him older or anything. It's just nice to see the cute little jeans and button up shirts and what not. Sad to put away the cute little sleepers and layette pieces though :( Jen's is in size 2 Diapers (but honestly won't be for very long...those chunky little thighs) He is on the medium setting for his cloth diapers. Routine: We don't have a exact time everyday type of routine...but this is usually how our day looks. 8am: Wake up for the day. First feed and I get him ready for the day. Most days he falls back asleep within 10-20 minutes after I nurse and change him. He then sleeps for about another hour. He does this for the morning. He wakes up...I change him, nurse him, play with him for a bit and he goes back to sleep within the 20-30 minute mark of being awake. This lasts until around mid afternoon, when he has more energy and stays up longer. We haven't really been super strict with Babywising. I still nurse him when he is really fussy and put him to sleep that way. But I would say for the most part he is babywised. He nurses when he wakes up, stays up for a bit 30 minutes max in the morning hours...and about an hour each other time. 7-9pm: Anywhere in between this time, Jens can be very fussy. He wants to be held and he stays awake for about 1.5 hours. (This is bittersweet, because he stays up long and then he is ready for sleep by 9 or 9:30) But it is nice because he wants to go to sleep...but this is where we run into the whole I want to nurse to sleep situation which isn't really babywise....but honestly why does it matter? Every baby is different and this seems to be working for us. 9-10pm: This is around his bedtime. We will work on this being earlier...which I am sure will happen if he get's fussy around 7. Maybe he would just nurse and then go right to sleep :) Sleeping: We are still sleeping wonderfully. Although we haven't got the second monitor in the mail yet (should be here any day now) and when that happens we can start putting him to bed earlier, in between 7 and 8pm and put the monitor on...then I can dream feed when I go to sleep. Once we get a good sleep pattern in the night worked out we can then start putting him in Isaiah's room. He goes to sleep for the night around 10ish, and he wakes up for his first feed around 4am (sometimes 5am) then he sleeps with us for the rest of the night...another thing I will change...haha I have to stop being lazy...seriously a HUGE hypocrite...because I said I would NEVER sleep with my babies...I now see how easy it is for a nursing mother...although I didn't do this with Isaiah...crazy how life is so different and your perspective is so different with Baby #2! LOL! He wakes up again around 7am for a quick feed and then we wake up at 8am! So that being said...Jens sleeps from 10pm-8am! Wakes up about twice each night. Eating: Jens is still a nursing champ! He loves to nurse. Nursing is going so great and is so easy with him. Milestones: There are more this time around.
Also I am slowly getting into the Trim Healthy Mama Plan. I just got some ingredients in the mail for some of the recipes in the book. And just did a huge Costco run for more ingredients and groceries. Basically switching our household to real foods and cutting out sugar and heavy starches. YAY! I feel better. I am almost adjusted to being a Mama of two, I still have days where I definitely need a break at the end of the day (I guess what Mama doesn't once and a while) I started sewing again...something I have been wanting to do for a while now. Anyways that is really all I have to update you on myself! ...following my dreams...
-Cynthia Hello, Well we have reached the 2 Months Old mark. Jens turned 2 Months on the 9th...Life is so great, and it's exciting watching him grow before our eyes! Time really does fly! Weight/Height: Jens got his shots on September 12th and it went really well, he cried, got really red in the face...I nursed him right afterwards and he was totally fine. Such a little Champ! Jens weighs 11 lbs 2 oz and measures 22.5 inches Sizes: At 2 Months he fits 0-3 Months clothing (2-4 Months in H&M) I don't think he will be in this size long though, as he is just fitting his sleepers with very little room to stretch out. He is still in Size 1 Pampers. But we use cloth diapers for 90% of the time. We just bought some newborn Kawaii diapers and LOVE them...I highly recommend them. We have 20 newborn ones and I honestly wish I had 10-20 more...but we are doing great with keeping up with using cloth. He is still on the small setting for the newborn diapers...but he will be on the small setting for not much longer (these diapers fit 6-22 lbs and have 3 settings) so he will fit these for a very long time. Routine: We are definitely getting more and more into a routine and this is something I am so happy about. I think we are pretty much on babywise...but I do need to sit and re-read the book to get a refresher so we can really start applying more of a schedule in our life. 7am - 8am: This is when we wake up...it usually ends up being around 7:30 every Morning...this works wonderfully for me. Because Jayden wakes up at 6:30-7:00 and has his morning coffee/tv time then he showers and helps me bring the kids downstairs. Jens get's changed and I nurse him right when we come downstairs. He still nurses every 2-3 hours during the day. He is having longer awake periods too...I will start writing down his eat/sleep periods so I can give more of a schedule...but this next month we will be working on babywising him :) 9pm-10pm: This is when we put him down for the night. He still has his fussy time in between 6:30-8:30 (so we can usually calm him down by 9...when he has been goes to sleep) We still don't have the second monitor but hopefully we will have it soon, so we can bring him upstairs and put him in the cradle then go spend time together...without kids! haha! Sleeping: I am so happy to report that this baby sleeps amazingly! So blessed and Thankful for this. We put him down for the night in between 9pm-10pm (this will change once we get the second monitor because he is pretty much ready for sleep at like 8pm everynight) He wakes up twice in the night! So I dream feed him when we go to sleep at about 10:30pm-11pm! Then he wakes up in between 2am-3am and again at 5am-6am. But like I said we are gonna work more on a schedule in our life. So my ideal would be (Go to sleep 8pm, dream feed 10pm, first night feed 1am, second feed 4am wake up 7am) That would be awesome if we can get to that :) Jens is a tummy sleeper...and he sleeps for longer periods when we put him on his tummy for sleep. Eating: Jens is 100% breastfed :) That is going great! Still nursing on one side per feeding session. Love this! Milestones: There isn't really many new things.
There are somedays that are a lot tougher than others, having 2 babies under 2 Years old. Isaiah challenges me a lot as a Mother, he gets into everything...and I am learning that I need to be very patient with him, also that he needs lots of attention to. He is a Mama's boy just like Jens, so this is sometimes tough to be able to juggle many tasks at once...I am a Mother after all though and I guess things like this just come naturally. I am learning how to do it though, and I am at the point where I have figured out how to go out and run errands with the two of them. So bring it on...I can do anything. Lol. I Love being a Mom and I cannot imagine life without my boys. So that being said I FEEL GREAT! ...following my dreams...
-Cynthia Hello, Our little man just turned 1 Month Old! So crazy. Here is an update :) Weight/Height: Jens weighs 9 lbs 11 oz and measures 21 inches He is starting to definitely get some baby chubby-ness and it is so adorable. He has a nice round milk belly :) Sizes: At 1 Month he fits 0-3 Month or newborn clothing. Size 1-2 Months from H&M (their sizes are different...I mention their clothes because we buy clothes for our boys from there when we can) He is in Size 1 Baby Dry (although I prefer swaddler) Pampers and he is still in his knock-off Little joey cloth diapers (on the biggest size) and just growing out of his newborn grovia. We will be getting some more cloth diapers for him shortly. Routine: He is getting there with a routine, he is a really good baby! 8am - 9am: This is wake up time, it is usually around 8:30am, I am sure this will change when Jayden goes back to work and wakes up at 6:30 or 7:00am every day. I want to make a personal goal for myself to wake for 6:30am to go for my morning run and be back for 7 so Hubby can shower and get ready. So we'll see. Back on topic of Jens, he wakes up in between these times, we get up come down stairs, change his diaper and I nurse him. Then he usually goes back to sleep. He nurses about every 2-3 hours during the day time. I don't really have times yet because it is still very different everyday. He usually has more awake time during the afternoon and evening before bed. There can be periods during the day where he will lay on the floor with his blanket and toys for a good 30 minutes before getting restless. 10pm-11pm: This is when we usually go to sleep for the day. Now we are definitely hoping to change this eventually as well. Once we get a second monitor for our bedroom (since he will be in there for a while) we will put him down for even 9pm (which he pretty much does anyways) but we really need that monitor so we can really have our alone time for the night and cuddle up on the couch together! Sleeping: He is doing really great with sleeping. He usually goes down around 9pm (but then waits for us to go to sleep which not gonna lie sometimes is as late as midnight) and he wakes up every 3-4 hours...mostly 3 hours...goes right back to sleep after a change, feed and burp. Wakes up around 8:30am. He still sleeps in his cradle all night :) Eating: He is only on Breast milk...exclusively! Happy baby! Milestones: Of course there are very few milestones for this little dude...but here are a few I can think of.
1 Month Postpartum: A little update for myself. I am feeling really great. I actually recovered very quickly after having Jens. The first few days of the first week after delivering...I had some really bad cramps. I felt them for about a Week. They were really bad at times, normal though, just my uterus shrinking back to normal. At about 2 Weeks I was able to fit my belly band (size small) it was really tight, but I guess it is suppose to be like that. I don't wear it all the time, I should though. My postpartum bleeding has stopped around 2.5-3 weeks mark. Haven't had any complications with any of that kind of stuff. I weighed in at exactly 1 Month postpartum and I was 175 lbs (I think I weighed in at about 195 when I was done my pregnancy) So 20 lbs gone at 1 Month Postpartum is pretty good. I still find it extremely hard to believe that I still weigh this much though...not gonna lie it is really hard to think about. But everything is going really great, and I am happy and in the grand scheme of things the number really doesn't matter...as long as I am doing the most important thing...which is loving and enjoying my baby (and toddler) I have started working out a few days ago (I worked out twice so far) I plan on doing a workout (by workout I mean Jillian Michaels DVD) at least 3-5 times a week. Then I want to slowly incorporate some running (which will probably be fast walking at first) I want to run 5-7 times a week. I am also working on switching to only real foods in our house (which is really hard especially after the whole being pregnant and eating whatever I felt like eating) So yeah adding fitness and nutrition slowly to my lifestyle is something I enjoy doing...my goal to work out so often ever week is because after a few weeks of doing it I eventually really love doing it, and it just becomes easier and easier. I may start doing a blog post once a week on just stuff to do with fitness/nutrition so it can keep me on track better. But I am enjoying everything, all the snuggles, nursing, changing and just being a Mama of two :) Life is so glorious! Thanks for reading. ...following my dreams...
-Cynthia Hello, Well our little dude just turned 4 Weeks Old. So this past week has been insane. So much has changed already. Especially when someone else holds him I look at him and can't help but see how big he has gotten already. We got back from camping on Wednesday. It was cold, cold, cold. I was glad that I had a new nursing baby again, because he woke up about every 2-3 hours and then Jayden would get up as well and turn the stove on to heat up our tent trailer. But it was fun, minus the being super cold! We also went into Edmonton on Thursday, it went really well. My Father-in-Law watched Isaiah for the day so we just took Jens with us. It was weird only having one child with us. But it helped us to get stuff done...but even with all that time we still got home extremely late :( We are definitely adjusting really well and it finally feels like normal life around our house. Anyways on to the update. Enjoy! Breastfeeding update: Nursing is still going awesome. Although this week in particular he has been eating more frequent (just after he turned 3 Weeks) so I am assuming a big ol' growth spurt. It could also be that it has been really hot in our house. But his regular eating pattern goes something like: anywhere in between 1-3 hours during the day, and 1-3 hours during the night. Usually 2 hours, but on really hot days it's more like 1. My right side still fills up more than my left, but it seems to be more than enough for him...most feeds he doesn't even finish the side that he nurses on, if I was to pump afterwards I would still get a few ounces. I have been pumped about 4 times since he's been born. But I hope to start pumping at least a few times a week for practicing bottle feeding (so that hubby and I can sneak away if we wanted for a few hours) Sleeping update: Sleeping as been so awesome. There may have been a few nights in the beginning of the week of him waking up every hour...but he seems to have moved on to every 3 hours sometimes even 4 (which I try not to do, but I haven't had to set my alarm clock yet) I needed to for Isaiah otherwise he would just sleep and sleep. But Jens is doing great with sleep. Even when we went camping for two nights the beginning of week 3, he was bundled up in some winter snowsuits and slept with me in my sleeping bag. But he would wake every 2-3 hours. Then moved to every hour when we got home. Towards the end of the week every 3-4 hours. So awesome. The only thing is he does not like to be swaddled anymore, I am a little sad about that :( But I guess some babies just don't like to be, I guess he got some freedom from me not always doing it for naps and decided he just likes to be left unwrapped. We do keep a blanket on him at night though (I will take it off when he starts to roll and move a lot more than he does and switch to sleep sacks) but as for now he really likes his sleep and how we do things. After I nurse him in the night, I give him a quick little burp (which he usually never burps) then put him in his cradle and he goes right back to sleep. So blessed! Development and other exciting things: We just discovered (although signs have been there for a few weeks now) that Jens has slight colic. He seems to have an upset tummy a lot of the time and very gassy. We can always hear rumbling in his tummy...poor little dude. But he seems to cope with it like a champ, it doesn't seem to bother him too much, and when it does (not very often...every few days maybe) we give him ovol. That stuff is amazing. Not gonna lie when he doesn't take his soother I put a tiny little drop on the soother (I have done this about 3 times so far) he will take the soother no problem. Which leads to my next point, we got Jens a new soother, and he LOVES it. I am so thankful for this...because this baby loves to nurse! Isaiah really likes his brother. It is so cute seeing how well he is adjusting to him. He is at the point where he will be pretty careful when he is around him, and I am at the point where I can lay him on the floor (while supervising) and Isaiah will be very careful getting around his brother. So cute! Jens is now in size 1 diapers. (we had a huge explosion on our camping trip...we had a few more newborn diapers to use up and we bought size 1's for the trip) anyways the explosion lead to use just putting our newbies away and pull out the size 1's. I hate explosions and that they always only ever happen when we use disposable diapers. We still use cloth. But he has outgrow his homemade ones and lil' joeys. Also we are having the same leaking issues we had with Isaiah when we use our gDiapers. So that sucks. I think I will be ordering some more smaller diapers though for Jens in the next few weeks...because I really do prefer using cloth over disposable.
Jens is starting to talk. He is starting to find his voice, and he likes it. So cute :) Also he is a grunter, oh my he is a grunter...he even keeps Daddy up sometimes. In fact Jayden had to go sleep downstairs one of the nights, because he was so loud. He can be pretty fussy (probably from the colic) so he loves to be held and cuddled to sleep. He still loves to stare at everything, I am sure he is learning so much, and seeing so much more and more everyday. He is so curious and alert! His neck control is still insane, it has been since the day he was born. But he is getting better and better at controlling it and loves to start right into your eyes when you have him burping over your shoulder. I think he is trying to smile, he puts his mouth in an open position and his eyes get really glossy and happy looking (Isaiah would do this same thing...I forgot when...which is why I am making an effort to blog about Jens...so I don't forget like I did with Isaiah) Anyways one day that same look from Isaiah turned into a giant smile!!!! YAY! I think that is it for leading into the 4 Week mark. I can't believe he is 4 Weeks and he will be a Month old shortly. Yikes. Time goes so fast when you have kids, which is why it's so important to just soak everything in and cherish this special moments! Thanks for stopping by! ...following my dreams... -Cynthia Hello, Our little guy turned 3 Weeks Old, It is insane how fast the time goes. He is changing so much ever single day! Life is so amazing, and we feel so blessed to have these two amazing little men in our life! Not a whole lot happened this past Week. Jayden's Grandparents came over for dinner and came to get some cuddles in with Jens. So that was fun. Also we have been getting our tent trailer ready, because we are going camping on Monday to like Wednesday. Yeah other than that not much went on for this Week! Here's the update! Enjoy! Breastfeeding update: Nursing is going so great. I am so happy with how things are going. He is so awesome with adjusting and it is so much easier the second time around! During the day he nurses about every 2 hours and at night it is about every hour. A few days ago though I was slightly concerned about my supply, because the right side seemed to be filling up all the way between feeds, and the left side not so much. I did some research and asked some other Mama's about it. Apparently it's normal, and all breasts are so different from woman to woman. He just favor's one side over the other (which is the case for a lot of babies) He is getting enough milk, the only thing I need to adjust to is that they sometimes will be lopsided...which is no big deal to me...just a little silly sometimes I guess. He is nursing on one side per feed and seems to really enjoy that! I have been taking some fenugreek pills though and have noticed an increase within a few days. Maybe my glass of red wine a night will help? haha He had his first bottle this week as well :) Sleeping update: He has not been sleeping all that great this Week :( He just sleeps all day long and then wants to be awake more during the night. I think we are gonna try to keep him awake longer periods during the day to see if that will help the night time sleeps. Daytime he wakes up every 2 sometimes 3 hours. Night time it is every hour lately...which sucks. Jayden has been helping so much and there was one night where he actually stayed up with him, because he tossed and turned for about 2 hours. I needed the sleep so bad that night, so my Hubby was so awesome for doing that. He is such an amazing Husband! Development and other exciting things: Jens Loves to be held! When I feed him he always wants to be cuddled afterwards until he falls asleep. If I put him down too quick, he will get mad and get really fussy. So I really need to get a good cuddle and burp in before setting him down. He still likes to be swaddled. He sleeps longer when he is swaddled...but there are times where he gets a bit fussy and needs to have one arm free (he likes to grab at his hair) and feel different things! His awake times during the day are about 20-30 minutes at a time, but seems to be getting longer as the days go by. I forgot how tired and how much they sleep for the first several Weeks! Cloth diapering is going so great. We Love cloth diapering. We are using them all day (but we don't have enough) so we do them so good all day for one day and then we may miss the next (while they are drying) Our favorite ones are the knock-off little joeys! So cute and trim! Isaiah is starting to like his brother more and more. He has been doing this for a while I just forgot to add it last week...two things actually, When I am nursing and using a nursing cover Isaiah will come up to me and say "Bebe" and try to pull down the top of the cover to peek at his brother. So I let him look through the top to see him and he will want to do that a few times during a feed :) Also when Jens is in the swing he will go up to him from the front of the swing and say "wee" while pulling in the swing and pushing it back out! He's getting there! His belly button is healing up nicely. He is more and more curious when he is awake. He loves to stare at you, or look around and focus in on things. Jens does not like to nurse while we are laying down on the bed! He has to be held. It is bittersweet, because those early mornings when I am super tired and just want him to lay down and nurse in bed with me...he doesn't want to...But I don't like co-sleeping anyways which is why it is fine with me. Just would be nice once and a while. We do have a chair in our room though so I can get nice and comfortable in the middle of the night. He has outgrown his premie clothes. So he is moving on to his 0-3 Months (which are still huge) and 1-2 Months H&M clothes. He is still in newborn swaddles diapers and has outgrown the homemade diapers I had made for him. He is making his first cooing noises and grunts a lot. Starting to hate his soother (which sucks for me) hopefully we can get him to like them again. Monday we went on our first Camping trip. It was so cold, so glad we bundled up and had our snowsuits. So when he turned 3 Weeks we were still camping (Tuesday) we leave tomorrow afternoon. There is the update for you. I can't believe how much he is changing. Thanks for stopping by.
...following my dreams... -Cynthia Hello, Well our little dude is 2 Weeks Old now. Where does the time go. I am sure you will hear me say this like every update from now on...because it is so true that the time flies when you have kids. Seriously we are enjoying every minute with our little men in our life. So amazing. I cannot believe the changes that are going on with Jens, you can literally see newborns growing in front of your eyes! Instead of wishing them to stay this small forever...I've learned that I need to just enjoy every single little moment that is happening in front of me. Jens had his 2 Week checkup. The Doctor was really happy with how everything is going. She is happy he is doing so well with breastfeeding and says everything looks great. He doesn't have any signs of jaundice, so that is perfect. He weighed in at 7 lbs exactly :) So 3 lbs over his birth weight. Happy Doctor and happy Mama! Anyways on to the update. Enjoy! Breastfeeding update: It is actually starting to feel like things are normal around here. Jens seems to have moved himself into a nice little routine. Throughout most of this week his schedule has gone something like this... He nurses about every 2-3 hours during the day and he will nurse on one side each feeding (there may have been a day or random time that he would want both sides or 1.5 rather) then his nighttime feeds looked something like wake every 3 hours...just to nurse than go right back to sleep. He favors one side more than the other (my right side) but he will take both no problem...this baby is a pro nurser (like I said before) I am so happy with how this is going for us. I must add that I absolutely love my bamboobies...but the regular ones do not work whatsoever for us right now because there is tonnes of leaking going on. But the overnight ones are perfect (I still do need to change them for each feed though and sometimes in between feeds. I am really happy with my supply at this time and hope I can keep it up as well as start pumping at some point. But as for the nursing update...we are doing fantastic! Sleeping update: Well I am proud to say that sleeping is going great. Seriously this baby is awesome. I think there was only 1 or 2 nights this week that he wanted to nurse more often and was a bit more gasy and upset tummy-ish! Other than that he wakes every 3 hours to eat and get a change and then goes right back to sleep. However we picked Jayden up from his Rock and Roll camp on Saturday and got home really late at night. For the rest of the week he has been sleeping not so well. He has been waking up every 1-3 hours at night but goes right to sleep after the change and feed...so I guess we can't complain ;) All in all he is a great sleeper. Loves his sleep. We also noticed that he LOVES to be swaddled and he actually sleeps in longer periods when he is swaddled :) He is starting to have more and more awake time too which is kinda fun :) I also forgot to mention last week that Jens sleeps in his cradle. We don't really do the co-sleep thing, just decided it's not for us! I am happy he is happy with his cradle :) Especially when he is swaddled up! Development and other exciting things: Isaiah and his Brother... Isaiah is definitely coming around and is starting to really like his little brother! He is more cautious when Jens is lying on the couch and he will no longer just walk into him or fall into him. He actually got to the point this week where My Mom told him to kiss the baby and he did go in for a few kisses :) So cute! My Mom was also teaching him Jens's little body parts showing him his little hands and Isaiah seemed really fascinated by that :) So that's awesome progress. I think he will love his little brother in no time. He is also getting less clingy with me, even when I am carrying Jens! Yay Isaiah! Jens still loves to look around. He is getting to the point where he is perfectly happy and content when he is lying beside me on the couch or just in the same room as us. He loves to be around people. I cannot ever resist those eyes though...so amazing and filled with wonder! Still digs his tummy time...I actually put him for a nap on his tummy and he had a very good sleep. But I decided that swaddling is for us, and it gives us more of a piece of mind. He will last about 10 ish minutes on his tummy until he decided that is enough. We only do tummy time like every other day (we definitely need to do it more...I know) Because he loves to be swaddled why wouldn't he love to be carried in a wrap right? He has only done the "Zoolander face" a few times since he has been born (that we know of) Isaiah would do it all the time....lol (love comparing them) but I caught it on camera and seriously he is just the cutest little man! Jens's belly button looked really great towards the beginning of this week. But around Friday it started to look a little infected. I have been trying to remember to clean it everyday (it's been every other day) When we went to get Jayden on Saturday it was probably at it's worse (and smelled pretty bad too) He is still a tough little man. Loves to fling his neck back. When he is sitting in his bouncy chair, he will actually wiggle his way to the point of almost falling out (within a few minutes) so we strap him in now...haha. He is very loud...when he doesn't get his milk...screams at the top of his lungs. Still takes a soother, there was a short period where he did not like it (I bought two different kinds...pretty sure they are in another post) he hated the one so we tried the other and then he started taking the soother again. So sometimes he needs one to fall asleep or to hold off for a feed when we are on the road! Jaydens first day home with us was Sunday! It was so nice to see him cuddling Jens and enjoying our little dude. He missed a lot of snuggles! So he is definitely catching up! Well I am pretty sure that is all I can think of for this week (I forgot to take notes so I needed to remember this all) So that is our little Jens update for his second week of life. Can't believe he is two weeks old! Yikes! Love him to pieces!
